INTRO TO PHOTOGRAPHY
This course covers the fundamentals and practice of photography, including understanding and use of the camera, lenses, and other basic photographic equipment. The course will address aesthetic principles as they relate to composition, space, exposure, light and color. The class will explore various types of photography, including portrait, landscape, action and wedding/event photography. Through interactive and hands on learning, students will gain confidence in not only operating and controlling their cameras, but learning about other inspirational photographers and developing their own confidence and path of photography. Students will be required to keep weekly notebooks, show basic understanding of how to manually operate a camera, participate in weekly critiques and for a final project create their own photo story. They will also learn digital file output, file management and basic editing. Depending on Covid, there will be occasional field trips to a working photo studio, museum or other inspirational experiences to influence and craft their artistic eye.
